9/11: The attack on the Pentagon

Every part of the official version of the attack on the Pentagon on 9/11 is false according to expert testimony entitled "Eyewitnesses and Evidence of Explosives at the Pentagon" presented by American investigative journalist Barbara Honegger at the Toronto International Hearings on the Events of September 11, 2001.

In her report, Ms. Honegger said it wasn't a surprise attack. In fact, although the attack occurred shortly after 9:30 am, Michael Nielson, Fort Monmouth TDY (temporary duty assignment) auditor, said bomb-sniffing dogs were at the Pentagon Metro stop at 7:30 am that morning.  While this could have been for reasons other than an anticipated bomb attack, after the attack on the World Trade Center had been reported Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld predicted “There will be another event,” as reported by Robert Burns of the Associated Press on 9/11 at 5:58 pm.  And the Pentagon attack came minutes after Mr. Rumsfeld spoke.

Moreover, Captain Leidig, Acting Head of the Pentagon’s National Military Command Center on 9/11, had no awareness of American Airlines Flight 77 coming back to Washington D C.  According to a recently released 9/11 Commission staff report of its interview with Leidig, his first awareness of a potential attack on the building was a call from Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld's three-star aide who asked if he felt “the explosion in the building” and asked Leidig to investigate if it might be a terrorist attack.

The official version of events is that a surprise attack occurred on the outer west wall of the outside E ring of the Pentagon, impacting near ground level. Flight 77, a large commercial 757 supposedly under the control of Arab hijackers, is said to have diagonally penetrated through three of the building’s five rings, causing a single exit hole in the inner wall of middle C ring.  But Honegger marshalled evidence that extensive damage and casualties extended far beyond the C ring to the B ring and even the A ring. Major damage and deaths also occurred in these two innermost rings. 

Assistant Secretary of Defence for special operations on 9/11, former Green Beret Robert Andrews, told Honegger: “My aide and I had to walk over dead bodies on the inside of the A ring.”

Ms. Honegger said there is strong evidence that the C Ring “exit” hole was made by explosives.  In her report, she quotes Michael Meyer, a mechanical engineer: “A round, clean-edged exit hole is the signature of shaped charged explosive, not impact from plane debris.”  Mr. Meyers spent years in aerospace structural design and the design and use of shaped charged explosives. He said: “It is physically impossible for the C Ring wall to have failed [due to the impact of plane debris] in a neat, clean circle.”

A shaped charged explosive can create a molten jet travelling at up to 26,000 feet per second, and there are inside witnesses who described an incredibly fast moving “fireball with a tail.”

Moreover, according to Honegger, a diagonal wall impact could not create the round hole seen on the inside of the C ring. If the official story -- a diagonal approach and penetration -- were true, the C ring hole would not be round, as a round hole is only possible if the impact was perpendicular to the wall.

Notwithstanding this, the official version states that the plane penetrated diagonally through three rings and caused a single exit hole in the inner wall of the middle C ring. However, an aerial photograph of the inner wall of C ring shows three exit holes.

In Ms Honegger's testimony, she said April Gallop, who was working at an Army area desk just 35 to 40 feet from official story entrance hole, gave a two-hour sworn statement under oath. Ms. Gallop said there was a huge explosion the instant she hit the on button on her computer in outside E ring.

“I thought it was a bomb,” Ms. Gallop said. She also said there were two explosions and she walked out the alleged “entrance” hole, yet saw no plane, no plane parts, no seats, no passengers, no luggage, experienced no jet fuel smell and no jet fuel fire. The only fires seen were coming out of the computers.

Ms. Gallop's experience was similar to Tracy Webb's in the D ring, and other witnesses who worked near Ms. Gallop had similar experiences.

“I've not talked to anyone yet who said they saw evidence of a plane inside the building,” Ms. Gallop said.

Documentary producer Judy Rothschadl – who was allowed inside the building – corroborated these witnesses’ testimonies. “There weren't seats or luggage or things you find on a plane [inside the building],” Ms. Rothschadl said.

Lt. McKeown is among the many witnesses who said they heard what sounded like bombs exploding.

“It sounded like a series of explosions. It sounded like a series of bombs exploding, similar to like firecrackers when you light them and you get a series going off,” Lt. McKeown said.

Multiple witnesses – including April Gallop, Don Perkal, and Gilah Goldsmith – smelled cordite, like gunpowder, not jet fuel.

“People shouted in the corridor outside my office that a bomb had gone off...Even before stepping outside I could smell cordite. Then I knew explosives had been set off somewhere,” Mr. Perkal said.

Moreover, according to the University of Maryland Geological Survey, there was no seismic signal from an impact of a large airliner at the Pentagon like there was at both the WTC and in Shanksville, between one hour before and one hour after the alleged impact time at the Pentagon. 

Ms. Honegger cites the findings of Pilots for 9/11 Truth that the plane associated with the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) or “black box” which the government claims it recovered from Flight 77 left Dulles Airport from a different gate than the gate Flight 77 left from, Gate D26.  The FDR data also shows the plane the government claims approached the Pentagon on 9/11 aligned its inertial navigation system (INS) while in flight, which military, not commercial, jets are able to do. The FDR data also does not show the beginning of the turn to the south that Flight 77 was tracked by Air Traffic Control making, before its transponder was turned off.

The government claims Arab hijackers were in the cockpit controlling the aircraft associated with the FDR, but Ms. Honegger said that the FDR data shows that once closed the cockpit door was never opened at any time during the flight. And the Pentagon's own official autopsy report states that no Arab DNA was found in any of the Pentagon victims' or passengers' remains.

Ms. Honegger concluded her testimony at the Toronto Hearings by stating that:

 “The central fact of the Pentagon attack is the same as the WTC attacks: planted inside explosives with plane approaches/impacts planned and controlled to appear to have caused the collapses. This is true regardless of whether there was an impact by Flight 77, by any 757, or by any other impactor, on any incoming path.”

She said the official 9/11 story is an affront to the world and a new independent 9/11 investigation with full subpoena powers and under oath testimony should be the topmost priority of U.S. citizens and the international community.
