Strategic voting is a must May 2nd

At the moment, no opposition party is strong enough to defeat the Conservatives. Only we, the electorate can block them by strategically voting against them. Chances of defeating the Conservative candidate in your area are greater if everyone concentrates their efforts on electing the candidate with the best chance of winning against him or her.

Strategic voting is not new.

For example, many inner-city Calgarians crossed party lines in 2001 to vote for Progressive Conservative Joe Clark in Calgary Centre. It was an "anybody but the Alliance" movement and it worked. Mr. Clark won.

You can find out which candidate this is in your area by going to the website at http://regressiveconservative.ca/voting-guide.php.

This website lists all of the Canadian ridings, highlighting in red the swing districts.

A swing district is an area where the margin between the number of votes cast in the last election for the Conservative candidate, and the candidate with the best return against them is particularly small.

This is important because if the Conservative won, this is an area where overthrowing him or her in the next election is somewhat easier.

If the Conservative lost, this district is at high risk of falling to the Conservatives next time. For this reason special effort should be taken to support the candidate with the best bet against the Conservative candidate.

In every election since their inception, the Reform — Alliance — Conservatives have gained seats, influence and power.

It’s up to each of us to do everything we can to prevent the Conservatives from getting seats.

For the May 2nd election donate money, volunteer time, and vote for the candidate most likely to win against the Conservative candidate.

There is a lot of evidence that Canadians are dissatisfied with Harper. They hate the way he misinform the public and many feel that his politics doesn't speak to the pressing problems they face.

The website

has a brilliant sequence of statements about Harper's cruel and stupid acts. Each one has a link to the relevant mainstream-sourced news story.
