She was a Sufi woman

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Elmasry

More by this author...

She was a Sufi woman: I live by Faith, and Hope. Better I live for Love than for any man, Better I die for Love than for any land.

God alone heard what she says,

God grants when a saint prays.

She lived only for Love,

Mind and soul became but one.

Better I live for Love than for any man,

Better I die for Love than for any land.

In my heart is His Heaven.

Keep it a secret --- not every friend is so kind.

Better I live for Love than for any man,

Better I die for Love than for any land.

She heard the hearts that have been broken,

wiped the tears from eyes that have been weeping.

She reached to hands not even extended,

shared affection with the world’s forgotten.

Better I live for Love than for any man,

Better I die for Love than for any land.

Not in gold will joy be found,

Watch for Love as you travel.

Travel light, worries can weigh you down.

Better I live for Love than for any man,

Better I die for Love than for any land.
