I don't understand the PalestiniansProf. Dr. Mohamed Elmasry

Peace negations or not, I just do not understand those Palestinians. Why do they complain so much, when they know their lands were taken over by "the only Democracy in the Middle East"? They should be thanking their lucky stars that what they claim is "robbery" has been done at gun point by some of the kindest armed settlers in the world, the Zionist Jews.

I am worried about the future of Muslims in Western countries, especially since 9/11. A number of news reports point to the phenomenon of a people trying so hard to fit in that they end up losing their self-respect and the respect of others.

"We Christians cannot speak about the promised land for the Jewish people. There is no longer a chosen people. All men and women of all countries have become the chosen people," Archbishop Cyril Salim Bustros of the Greek Melkite Catholic Church last week. "The concept of the promised land cannot be used as a base for the justification of the return of Jews to Israel and the displacement of Palestinians. The justification of Israel's occupation of the land of Palestine cannot be based on sacred scriptures."

Oman is not well known to Canadians. We do not have an embassy there and Oman does not have one in Ottawa. My visit to Oman was triggered by my visit to the beautiful island of Zanzibar, earlier this year. I have fallen in love with Zanzibar from reading about its fascinating history, both in English and Arabic. It’s the history that brought me here to Oman.

On December 7, 2010 Muslims marked a new Islamic year, the year 1432 A.H. and the world marked a new 2011 year last Saturday. It is not a tradition among Muslims to make a New Year resolution. But the practice does not do any harm, and it can do a lot of good.

(Cairo) The bombing near a church in Alexandria on New Year's Eve, local time, was sad news, which affected me personally. First, I was in the area 72 hours before the bombing touring the city with my family from Canada; remembering the summer days I used to spend at its beaches when I was a teenager. Secondly, I was born and raised in Cairo's district of Shubra (was in the news following the bombing) where the highest concentration of Christian Copts live.
